Lord Howe Island is one of Australia’s premier birdwatching destinations, with 14 species of seabirds breeding here in their hundreds of thousands. The island also has more than 130 permanent and migratory bird species, including the unique Lord Howe Island woodhen, vast flocks of migrating shearwaters and rare providence petrels.

Near the Stock Palace and the Douro River is another UNESCO World Heritage site that is well worth visit while in Porto, the Monument Church of St Francis, or Igreja Monumento de São Francisco. This church built around the 14th century has one of Europe's most sumptuous and extravagant interiors. Here, all that glitter is, in fact, gold! Its interior is covered in gilded woodwork, and rumour has it that it was used around 400 to 600 kg of gold to decorate it. Hence why the St Francis Church is also known as "The Golden Church". Another highlight of this church is its impressive Tree of Jesse, a wooden sculpture carved by Filipe da Silva and António Gomes in 1718 depicting the ancestors of Jesus Christ, shown in a branching tree — considered to be one of the best in the world of its kind. Under the church, you will find the catacombs, where the Franciscan monks along with the members of Porto's noble families are buried.

National roads 86 and 87 between Sundsvall and Östersund, known as the Indalsleden, are said to be some of Sweden's most beautiful tourist routes. The entire stretch along the Indal River valley is an eldorado for independent outdoor activities. If you're interested in history, there are numerous reasons to stop and explore old rural culture, museums, nature information centres and ancient remains.

More than 70 percent of Hamilton Island is pristine natural bushland, which offers over 20 kilometres of scenic bushwalking trails. There are trails of different lengths and for all levels of fitness. Take a bushwalk up to Passage Peak, the highest point on the island, for the most breathtaking view of the Coral Sea and surrounding islands.
