Whether the sun is shining or the clouds are looming, the beach of Scheveningen is packed full of exciting things to do and see on a day out. Just a fifteen-minute bike ride from The Hague's city centre, this eventful stretch of sand dunes and sea is definitely worth a visit for young and old to enjoy the culinary delights that can be found there along with the numerous events such as beach parties, fireworks nights and kite festivals to name but a few. There is a vibrant surf culture in Scheveningen which is active all year round, great for beginners to learn as there are so many surf schools along the beach. Fig Tree Bay is the most precious gem in this coastal tiara and is named after the solitary fig tree that was planted here by eastern invaders in the 17th century. On the headland of the bay one can see the recently revealed, glass-covered Hellenistic tombs. A selection of watersports abound at these beaches, ranging from skiing and paragliding to snorkelling and scuba diving, and boats wait on the piers to take you on unforgettable trips. The bay also has excellent facilities, with sunbeds and parasols available for hire. It provides disabled access and is serviced by a lifeguard.

The long crescent of coral-sand Seven Mile Beach is a true gem of Grand Cayman. It was named one of the Ultimate Beaches in the region by Caribbean Travel + Life. While many of the Caribbean's most luxurious properties are located along the shore, the expansive waterfront is completely open to the public. Walk the full length of the beach and take in the natural beauty. On your walk, stop at the numerous restaurants and bars, souvenir stalls or even choose to or snorkel in the peaceful seas around Cemetery Reef.
