Landestrost Castle in Neustadt, built 1573-1584 by Herzog Erich II. zu Braunschweig-Lüneburg, is one of the biggest and oldest castles of the Hannover Region, housing an archive, of peat museum and an exhibition on the castle's history. While its beautiful renaissance appearance will catch you at once, the banks of the River Leine are put to highly contemporary use by providing the setting for regular events like exhibitions, concerts or cabarets.

Testament to the grandeur of ancient Halikarnassus — present-day Bodrum — the amphitheatre dates back to the 4th century BC and boasts a breathtaking view over the Aegean Sea. This Bodrum landmark, among the best-preserved structures of its bygone era, is conveniently within walking distance from the city centre.

Milan's architecture is not only neoclassical promenades, Gothic cathedrals and posh villas — Porta Nuova district is the new and modern revitalization project that has drastically changed the city. Take a walk around the Diamond Tower, the Unicredit Tower and many other glass and steel structures. The stars of the show here are the two skyscrapers known as Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest). Featured in all major architecture outlets, these residential towers have actual live trees growing on its facade. They look marvellously lush in the spring and summer and totally enchanting covered in snow and frost.

If you have some time to spare in Chios, check out the town's old historic castle located right next to the town's port. The castle walls encircle a tiny village as well as a restored Ottoman era bath house and an abandoned mosque.
