A 20-minute boat ride from Cancún lies the small island of Isla Mujeres with its laid-back Caribbean ambiance, tiny streets lined with stalls, and street cafés in pastel-colored houses. Golf carts and mopeds dominate the streets, and although the island is only 5 miles long and half a mile wide, it still offers plenty of things to do and see. Everything from a beautiful palm-fringed white beach on the north coast to a dramatic rocky shoreline on the eastern side to a sea turtle sanctuary and the remains of a Mayan temple at the southern tip. If you're into adventure, then you should visit the Garrafon Reef Park & Beach Club, where you can go zip-lining, snorkeling, and kayaking. Lastly, a must-visit for nature and wildlife lovers is a tour to Isla Contoy, a nature reserve only inhabited by a few biologists and restricted to 200 visitors per day.

On the corner of Špiro Brusina Street and Mihovil Klaić Street there is a simple and charming Gothic Church of St Michael’s, once a part of the Franciscan monastery. A Gothic portal, which is adorned by reliefs from the 14th century, dominates the facade. In its single-nave interior there is a painted wooden Romanesque crucifixion from the 13th century. There is also a small collection of art works in the monastery. The present church was built in 1389 and added to in the 19th century.

Go on a safari tour at Eriksberg's Wildlife Park and see wild animals in their natural habitat. Red deer, fallow deer, Père David’s deer, European bison, wild boar and moufflon roam freely in this unique nature reserve in the archipelago. The tour goes through a fascinating rocky landscape of oak woodlands, dense hornbeam woodlands and knotty conifers. There is a rich bird life as well, and one of the world’s largest stocks of the protected red water lily. The park consists of more than 925 hectares, of which 409 hectares of water. The fenced portion is about 900 hectares, which means that Eriksberg is one of northern Europe's largest wildlife reserves.

Karlshamn's beautiful archipelago extends from the western municipal border to Sweden’s southeastern corner. This group of islands is called Hällaryd’s archipelago and consists of 270 scenic islands of different sizes with stone or rocky beaches and meadows. Joggesö, Ekö, Hallö, Östra Bokö and Fölsö are the names of some of the islands. The largest in the archipelago is Tärnö. The archipelago boats visit most islands, starting at the archipelago terminal in the city centre across from First Hotel. Boats also depart from Matvik and Järnavik.
