The building alone is well worth a visit. In the 16th century, the Lanfranchi family built this palace leaning against a group of medieval structures showing paintings dating to that era. In 2007 Palazzo Lanfranchi became the Graphic Museum, where you can see collections of prints and drawings from the University of Pisa taking part in educational and art events.

Those who live and work here say that you don’t really need to explain where the Jeker quarter is: Once you’re there, you’ll know. Stroll along Mandraki Harbour for unbeatable views and a brush with legend. This charming harbour — adorned with iconic deer statues and medieval windmills — is the reputed home of the Colossus of Rhodes. Standing at 34 metres, this bronze tribute to the Greek sun-god Helios was a marvel of its time, crafted by Chares of Lindos in 280 BC.
