Ceantar na nOileán is a group of Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) linked to mainland Galway. The best-known islands are Lettermore, Gorumna and Lettermullan - many mainlanders enjoyed summers here as teenagers attending one of the three Irish language summer-schools. Famous for its seaweed, the islands have become known as a place of healing and self-discovery. THINGS TO SEE: The Millenium Garden, Maumeen Abbey, and secluded beaches.
