Strolling through the cobbled streets of old town towards the Marina of Bonifacio, ambling visitors can nip into one of the long-standing cafes that are best known for their tasty baked goods and ethereal atmospheres. The name 'Rocca-Serra' comes up often here as this family has been in the sweets business for centuries, providing locals and visitors with iced respites and sticky treats in several different locations throughout the city. A raisin stuffed brioche by the name of 'Pain des Morts' is the local speciality, featuring in most bakeries and cafes. As one would expect of a French cafe infused with Italian influence, the resulting textures and flavours are quite special.

Expect the unexpected from Francois as he infuses both dairy and non-dairy ice cream with effervescent ingredients such as lavender, chestnut and even catnip.

This emblematic sweet shop is another addition from local hero François Rocca Serra. The age old recipe of Le Corail de Bonifacio has been passed down through generations, ever since it was made as a gift for Napoleon who frequently indulged in its sweetness back in the late 1700s, as well that of its creator, Emma Poggioli. The product is simple yet effective, consisting of almonds, honey, lemons and oranges. There are often free tasting sessions for those who need more convincing before purchasing.
