Whilst there aren't a whole load of options for a late night adventure in Bonifacio, the few spots that are open through the wee hours have a lot to offer in the way of atmosphere and quality. If however, the underground and open-air bars of Hotel La Caravelle get stale, the neighbouring town of Porto-Vecchio is just a short trip away and a great alternative for those in search of live music and traditional Corsican cultural events. Back in Bonifacio, where the beautiful streets are illuminated throughout the night, all the romantics out there can take a midnight walk and soak up the serenity of the city.

Le Cellier

Located in the bowels of the 13th century chapel at Hotel La Caravelle, Le Cellier is an exceptional piano bar featuring well known musicians and exotic cocktails. What was once a popular haunt for sailors and fishermen to meditate in before they set sail is now filled with enchanting tweaks and trims, creating an atmosphere perfect for those looking to unwind and enjoy some mellow tunes echoed by cavernous acoustics.

Another addition from the emblematic Hotel La Caravelle, the brightly decorated B52 is a popular spot amongst Bonifacians for its 'go big or go home' attitude, a mantra which is pasted in neon lettering throughout the bar. It organises open-air parties every summer and invites famous bands and DJs like Joachim Garraud to attend. The menu at this beer garden features sushi, tapas, cocktails and of course, lots of beer.

What was once an art gallery has been tastefully transformed into a bar specialising in the tried and tested trifecta of cheese, ham and wine. Also on the menu, a refreshing selection of cured meats, tapas and other tempting hors d'oeuvres to accompany an extensive drinks menu. There is even a selection of cigars on offer for those so inclined. Despite being located in one of Bonifacio's busiest areas, this venue offers an oasis of tranquility surrounded by breathtaking views.

La Taverne du Roi

Despite being a 30 minute drive from Bonifacio, a visit to La Taverne du Roi is highly recommended to get a glimpse of the local heroes of Corsica in action. This buzzing live music bar consistently exudes good vibes and chilled drinks to keep guests happy as they rock the night away. It is definitely the place to go to get a taste of typical Corsican music and show off some slick dance moves.

La Voûte Bonifacio is a lively tapas bar with a warm atmosphere and attentive service. It’s the sort of place where you feel genuinely welcomed, often by the owners themselves, who make the rounds to ensure everyone is enjoying their evening. The menu focuses on simple but high-quality local flavours. Wine and cocktails are paired with generous boards of regional ham and cheese, the truffle camembert is a clear standout. Their bruschetta is also well worth ordering.
