Rebuilt entirely after being destroyed during WWII, Château de Clervaux is among the Duchy's most notable attractions. It contains a fascinating UNESCO-listed photography exhibition, Edward Steichen's 'Family of Man', which takes its origins at MoMA (Museum of Modern Art in New York) and has now found a permanent home at Clervaux. The two other on-site museums, one displaying scale models of Luxembourg's castles, and another dedicated to the WWII Battle of the Ardennes (which resulted in the original castle's annihilation), are also worth exploring.

Visit Bornos in September to experience a local festival — La Feria Real. The remote origin of the fair, like most Andalusian fairs, is found in the 12th and 13th centuries and is tied to the economic and agricultural cycles of the region. The first part of the festival takes place in April and June and the celebrations are picked up again in August and September, during the heaviest harvest season and right after its end. Enjoy the traditional atmosphere, excellent food, refreshing wine from the Jerez area, dancing, singing and even equestrian events.

Georgetown feels like a little world of its own in D.C., with cobblestone streets, old brick buildings, and a mix of shops and restaurants. You can wander along M Street and Wisconsin Avenue for over 450 options — from coffee shops to trendy boutiques — or grab a bite along the waterfront. It’s a popular spot for students and visitors alike, and walking through the neighbourhood gives a real sense of the city’s history.

Port Macquarie is part of a significant wine region around the Hastings River where the best grapes are chambourcin, chardonnay, verdelho, semillon and merlot. Dairy and oyster farms, as well as plantation crops such as macadamia nuts and avocados, make this a great foodie destination. Fresh produce aplenty can be sourced at Wauchope Farmers Markets, held on the fourth Saturday of every month. Annual food and wine festivals include Sip and Savour Festival.
