Båtsmansgränd is a narrow alley located in Gamla Öster, the area above the harbour. Here, you'll find eight quaint, timber-framed boatmen's cottages, constructed in the 1740s. Their simple yet traditional design reflects the era's architectural style. Originally, they served as homes for the boatmen and their families, whom Västervik town was obliged to equip on behalf of the Crown. In the first half of the 20th century, the cottages housed members of the citizens' fire brigade. In the 1970s, these now heritage-listed cottages were converted into a hostel, available for rent in the summer.

CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches is a 160-acre sports and event complex, home to Spring Training for the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals. Baseball fans can catch games in a 7,700-seat stadium, while sports enthusiasts can enjoy soccer and lacrosse events on the park’s versatile fields. Beyond sports, the park hosts concerts, festivals, and community events year-round.

The harbour is hard to miss. Historic buildings are repurposed as buzzing seafood restaurants and cafes, and a waterside promenade takes you on a journey through time - some parts of the fortifications date back to the 16th century.

Basilique Saint-Michel is a Gothic church dating back to the 14th century, and it stands out for its separate, 114-metre bell tower — the tallest in southern France. You can climb the tower for great views over Bordeaux. Inside, there are plenty of chapels with old artwork, and the whole place is part of the UNESCO-listed Routes of Santiago pilgrimage.
