Cape Byron Headland Reserve offers walking tracks through spectacular beaches and beautiful and rare coastal vegetation. Visit the Cape Byron Lighthouse, built in 1901, above the cliff at mainland Australia's most easterly point. The view is magnificent in every direction, from the Cape Byron Marine Park and vast Pacific Ocean to the verdant hinterland. Look out for dolphins, turtles, wallabies and whales in season. At dawn, marvel at the glorious sunrise.

Porto Montenegro is Tivat’s glitzy marina—sleek, stylish, and designed with the yachting crowd in mind. It’s home to luxury boats, designer boutiques, and high-end restaurants with waterfront tables. But don’t worry—you don’t need a yacht to enjoy it. The promenade is perfect for a leisurely stroll, grabbing a coffee, or simply watching the marina come to life. If you’re into history, the old naval heritage of the area is still visible, with a museum showcasing Tivat’s maritime past just a short walk away.

Christmas Island’s narrow reef supports bountiful marine life, including 88 coral species and more than 600 species of fish. It’s an underwater wonderland for divers, with clear warm waters, coral reefs and spectacular wall dives. Soft corals, feather stars and gorgonian corals grow along vast walls which plunge into a seemingly bottomless abyss. The fish community is distinctive because the island is a meeting place for Indian and Pacific Ocean fish species. It’s one of the few locations in the world where you’ll see Indian and Pacific Ocean fish swimming side by side. Some of these species interbreed to produce hybrids. Christmas Island has more hybrid fish than anywhere else in the world, making it a marine hybridisation zone of international significance. In addition to the hundreds of species of tropical fish, dolphins inhabit the island’s waters and whale sharks regularly visit during the wet season. Whale sharks generally first appear when the red crabs are spawning at the start of the wet season — they converge to supplement their plankton diet with crab larvae. Locations like Flying Fish Cove, Ethel Beach, Dolly Beach, West White Beach and Winifred Beach offer scuba divers and snorkellers a rewarding marine experience. At Flying Fish Cove and Ethel Beach shore diving is possible depending on the time of the year. There is excellent fishing, with sailfish, tuna and wahoo among some of the fish to be caught. You’ll find boat ramps at Flying Fish Cove and Ethel Beach.

Wall House Museum stands as Gustavia’s enigmatic Swedish-era relic, its thick stone walls harboring more questions than answers. Built between 1788-1790, this imposing structure’s original purpose remains debated — was it a theater, political hub, or rental property? Today, its ground floor displays a modest collection of island artifacts (fishing boats, oil lamps), while upstairs houses Gustavia’s historical library. The museum also organises several art exhibitions every year, with topics like contemporary art from Haiti and the Surrealist movement in France. Don’t miss the courtyard’s surviving brick bread oven, a quiet testament to daily life centuries ago. Though the exhibits won’t rewrite history books, the building itself offers a tangible connection to St Barts’ layered past. Pair a visit with sunset drinks at the nearby lighthouse for full time-travel effect.
