São Paulo was founded by Jesuits José de Anchieta and Manoel da Nóbrega on this site in 1554. The church dates from 300 years later but was built in the same style as the original Jesuit chapel. There are regular exhibits devoted to colonial history and sacred artefacts.

The George Peabody Library is one of those hidden gems that leaves you in awe the moment you step inside. Housed in a breathtaking 19th-century building, it's a place where you can lose yourself among rows of books and beautiful architecture. Located at Johns Hopkins University, the library is open to the public, and visitors can wander through its five-tiered atrium, marveling at the iron railings and towering shelves packed with rare volumes. At the far end of the National Mall, the Lincoln Memorial feels even more striking when you walk up the steps and stand where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his defining “I Have a Dream” speech. Inside, Lincoln’s 19-foot statue looks out over the long Reflecting Pool toward the Washington Monument. Go at sunrise or after dark if you want a quieter moment — the view’s completely different depending on the time of day.

The GlobalFest is further split into the OneWorld Festival and the International Fireworks Festival. The first aims to showcase different cultures from around the world through onstage performances, interactive activities and food stalls, while the latter is a competition between five countries' best pyro-musical artists.
