Few places in the Nordic region can match Kullen for the beauty of its natural landscape. With its breezy forests of beech and fir, its romantic grottoes, its vertiginous cliffs that plunge straight into the sea, its clifftop views over vast expanses of bright blue water, every year Kullen has attracted a steadily increasing flow of visitors from far and wide.

Failaka Island is a local entertainment hub for summertime activities such as fishing, swimming and water sports. The Failaka Heritage Village offers accommodation in traditional-style housing, horse and camel rides, water sports facilities, access to beaches and much more. The Museum Palace of Sheikh Abdullah Al Salim Al Sabah is one of the village's many highlights.

The monumental Grand Mosque (largest in the country) is a Kuwaiti landmark and place of worship. Imposing from the outside, the building boasts elaborate inner decor and is open to visitors of all convictions. Free guided tours are available.

This is a beautiful medieval structure, first built at the end of the 13th century, and the subject of many additions and alterations over the years. Head up the stairs in Piazza IV Novembre and into the Sala dei Notari – completely covered in allegorical and biblical frescoes that date from the 13th century. Entering the palazzo from Corso Vannucci takes you to the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria and to two further rooms: the Collegio della Mercanzia and the Collegio del Cambio. The Collegio della Mercanzia is beautifully panelled in wood, probably done by German craftsmen in the 15th century. The Collegio del Cambio has two rooms, the second with stunning late 15th century frescoes by Perugino.
