The narrow-gauge railway is Sweden’s longest historical treasure. The Hultsfred-Västervik line was finished in 1879 and was in service until 1984. A trip that stretches over 70km, from the forests of Småland in the west, past lakes, through small communities and agricultural areas out to the archipelago in the east.

In Belém (situated west of the city along the river) lies Lisbon’s, and possibly Portugal’s, most important historical monument. Here you can see an opulent church and cloistered garden built in the elegant Manuelian style at the beginning of the 16th century, when Portugal was a great seafaring power. Within walking distance of many other sights, the Gothic Jerónimos Monastery is a must-see on any itinerary.

Watch these majestic creatures swim and play in the waters along the NSW South Coast during their annual migration between May and November. Whale numbers have risen substantially around Jervis Bay in recent years, making the area are great place to watch these graceful mammals from shore or the deck of a tour boat. The viewing platform in Booderee National Park, located at Cape St George Lighthouse, is a splendid observation point. Perpendicular Lighthouse, at the southern end of the Beecroft Peninsula in the Jervis Bay Military Reserve, also offers a good vantage point.
