To get a good impression of how Dresden once used to look, head to Königstraße in the Neustadt Quarter and its rows of beautifully restored 18th-century houses. An abundance of restaurants and elegant boutiques are hidden in the inner courtyards.

Karachi’s most prominent landmark is a memorial to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder and first head of state of Pakistan. The mausoleum is where Pakistan's great leader remains buried, making the location of immense historical significance to the local populace.

As Kyōto's most iconic landmark, Kinkaku-Ji (literally the "Temple of the Golden Pavillion"), is undoubtedly astonishing. Built in 1397, the complex was the retirement villa of the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. Soon after his death in 1408, the structure was converted into a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect by his son. Engulfed in flames several times throughout the ages, the current complex was rebuilt true to the original in 1955 (except for the top two floors that were both covered in gold leaf). Thousands of sightseers pack the site to glance at the breathtaking Gold Temple, its reflection shimmering in the serene pond in a picturesque setting. It's best to go early in the morning or just before closing to avoid queuing in notoriously slow-moving lines.

Covering over 350 acres, Hyde Park is a green haven in the centre of London. The park is home to some 4,000 trees, a large lake, a meadow and ornamental flower gardens. It features a busy programme of activities and events which include horse riding, skating, cycling, swimming and boating. Highlights to look out for include the Serpentine Bridge, the Joy of Life fountain, the Achilles statue, the Diana Memorial Fountain and Speaker's Corner.
