Fjätervålen mountain is where both beginners and advanced skiers find their delight. The vastness of the skiing area relative to the number of guests means it never feels crowded, and the slopes don't get overused. Perfect for smooth carving, but also a favourite spot for many alpine clubs for training and competitions. The slopes meet international FIS norms for slalom, giant slalom, and women's super-G. The fact that all slopes converge in one place is a definite advantage. Everyone can ski their favourite slope, but it's always easy to find each other again at the foot of the mountain.

Fort Rinella is a Victorian fort, built by the British to support Malta in the resistance against Italy. To make it extra safe, a 100-ton gun, designed to be the world's biggest, was placed at its entry (fortunately, never to be used). Do not miss the on-site museum to learn more about the military history of Malta.

Just outside the city gate of Valletta lies the Hastings public garden. From here majestic views over Sliema, Floriana, and Manoel Island unfold. The name of the garden comes from the Marquis of Hastings, who was a governor of Malta. He died in 1827 and is buried in the garden.

All-weather cyclists will enjoy the Shannon Corridor's seven cycle routes, some of which reach as far as to the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare. The route between Milltown Malbay and Doolin in west Clare is considered among the best cycling routes in the world.
