The historic Médina neighbourhood thrives with its vibrant street markets and bustling cafes. Home to the Grand Mosque and Soumbédioune market, this area is a cultural hub, established in 1914 as a distinct "native quarter" during colonial times.

On a rainy day in Durham, consider visiting the Gala Theatre Durham on the banks of the river Wear. It is known as one of the best theatres in the northeast. The venue hosts leading theatre companies, comedians, bands, musicians and dance performers, as well as a cinema programme.

Contained inside what was once built to become a public prison, the Vigo Museum of Contemporary Art is a local cultural center that boasts a regular rotation of exhibitions, showcasing various forms of artwork (from painting to modern design). There is no permanent exhibition, however, so do check what's on when you're in town.

A giant sparkling-white Buddha sits atop a hill at the foot of Trai Thuy Mountain, marking the location of a beautiful pagoda, one of Nha Trang's most notable sites. Walk through the mosaic-adorned halls and take the 152 steps that lead up to the pagoda; a spectacular view unfolds over Nha Trang in its entirety from up here. Footwear should be removed prior to entering the temples, and modest clothing covering the shoulders should be worn. Please note that the area is notorious for minor scam artists offering unsolicited services to tourists, which can be an annoyance.
