The suggestive walk that twists and turns through Portofino´s most southern tip leads to a scenic view of the Ligurian Sea, so no wonder that Portofino´s Lighthouse is a town landmark. The immaculate white colour of the building creates a contrast with the surrounding natural landscape, shaping a vivid scene.

Tangalooma Island Resort offers a wide array of excursions, many of which are free. This is one of the few places in the world where it’s possible to hand-feed dolphins in the wild. They come swimming up alongside the jetty at dusk for their nightly feed.

Kyrenia Castle, situated at the entrance of a picturesque harbour, is a remarkable historical site dating back to the 7th century. Originally built by the Byzantines and modified by various conquerors throughout the centuries, the castle offers you a captivating glimpse into Cyprus's past. As you walk along the ramparts, you can enjoy stunning views of the harbour and explore the castle's cistern, dungeon, chapel and two small museums. One of the castle's most intriguing attractions is the Kyrenia Shipwreck Museum, housing the remains of a 4th century Greek merchant ship discovered in Cypriot waters. Believed to have sunk around 300 BC, the ship's cargo included amphorae, almonds, grain, wine and millstones from the Greek islands of Samos, Rhodes and Kos. The museum offers a unique opportunity for you to explore an ancient shipwreck and its well-preserved artefacts, providing insight into maritime history and trade during the time of Alexander the Great and his successors.

The Edro III Shipwreck is one of Cyprus’ few coastal shipwrecks visible without getting wet. Nevertheless, divers should also be excited by what lies beneath the surface. Stranded just 20 metres offshore near Pafos’s sea caves since 2011, this 83-metre freighter tilts at an angle, its hull rusting into abstract patterns against the limestone cliffs. The Sierra Leone-flagged vessel ran aground in a storm while transporting plasterboard to Rhodes, its crew rescued by British forces. For divers, the wreck offers a rare shallow exploration (5 metres at its deepest). The propeller remains intact, though a gaping hole in the starboard side reveals corroded forklifts frozen mid-task. Schools of fish dart through the skeletal frame, while scattered debris leads to two nearby reefs: one culminating in a sea cave, the other dropping into an 18-metre gully. Above water, the wreck’s industrial starkness against the Mediterranean blues makes it a magnet for sunset photographers. Local operators run guided dives, but even snorkellers can appreciate the eerie spectacle. With removal deemed impractical, Edro III seems destined to remain Cyprus’ most accessible maritime time capsule.
