Rising 324 metres above Paris, the Eiffel Tower was unveiled in 1889 as part of the World’s Fair celebrating 100 years since the Revolution. Though controversial at first for its unusual, industrial look — many Parisians felt it clashed with the city’s classic architecture and called it an eyesore — it quickly became the city’s defining symbol. Today, nearly 7 million visitors a year come for the views, to snap that classic photo, and to experience standing atop one of the world’s most unforgettable landmarks.

The ancient prison, a tangle of underground chambers concealed underneath the Diocletian Palace, is nowadays open only for special events. The main alley that links the cells together, treats the tourists with an array of picturesque stalls, well-equipped with souvenirs and artworks of any sort. In the HBO show Game of Thrones, Daenerys Targaryen locks up her enemies, as well as two of her dragons. These scenes were filmed right here, in the cellars of Diocletian's Palace.

Right beside the Dry Bridge market sits Dedaena park, the hangout spot for the city's young and hip. On sunny days the lawns fill up with groups of people enjoying fresh air. The park has been fully renovated and now features a skate park and several bars.

Founded by the famous Georgian artist and writer Revaz 'Rezo' Gabriadze, this small puppet theatre has become a staple in the city's cultural life. The theatre offers various plays such as 'The Autumn of Our Springtime' and 'The Battle of Stalingrad' and even has a little cafe out front. Next to it is the so called Leaning Tower, a curious clock tower that was designed to look like it's about to fall down. Visitors are advised to check for availability as the theatre has a limited capacity.
