Although the Blarney Castle is an hour's drive from Waterford, it is famous enough to be put on your to-do list during your visit: this medieval stronghold is home to the rock that gives the gift of eloquence to anyone who kisses it.

Palazzo Madama is one of the historic buildings of Piazza Castello, together with the Royal Palace. The layers of history that from this palace are extraordinary. At the beginning of the first century BC, the site of the palace was occupied by a gate in the Roman city walls. The two restored towers still testify to this original nucleus. The back of the palace looks like a medieval stronghold, while the ornate facade was added by the Savoy family to better match the overall look of the square. Today it houses the Museum of Ancient Arts, with its impressive collection of paintings.

The Palatine Gates date back to ancient Roman times, when they provided access for travellers coming from the north. Today, the gates are part of the archaeological park located in the city centre, together with other ancient ruins, such as the remains of a Roman theatre.

It is impossible to look upon the face of an alpaca and not smile. At Apple Hill Farm, the smiles abound. Their mission is to share its beauty and animals with Banner Elk, which means you can meet all of their alpacas, cats, chickens, dogs, donkeys, goats, horses, ponies, llamas and even mini donkeys. The farm itself is located on the site of a 45-year-old apple orchard atop Valle Mountain.
