Holmöarna consists of a group of larger and smaller islands. The nature here is unique, with large areas of land and water protected as nature reserves. The birdlife is particularly abundant, especially around Stora Fjäderägg, which is also home to a bird station. The archipelago is also renowned for boat building.

The regular thoroughbred horse races at this posh national racetrack are attended by the cream of the racing elite. Races are held throughout the entire year. The course also contains two polo pitches where top international teams come to play during the summer.

Completed in 2010, this is Sharm’s largest Coptic church and a notable example of modern religious architecture. Inside, you’ll find large rectangular towers and colourful frescoes and murals depicting biblical scenes.

A green oasis in the middle of the thick urban landscape, the beautiful island-park of Stanley Park spans 400 hectares. The park is not only the world’s largest uninterrupted waterfront path, but also a measure against flood risk. When construction on Stanley Seawall began in 1917, its design was intended as a measure of flood protection along the waterfront edge of Vancouver’s Stanley Park. The park expertly combines environmental resilience with everyday recreational use. Today, it is home to kilometers of trails, beautiful beaches and numerous landmarks. It is without a doubt one of the most beloved spots in the city for both pedestrians and cyclists.
