This 16th century cathedral boasts the intimidating full name "The Holy Priory Church Cathedral Basilica of the Military Order of Our Lady Saint Mary of the Prado of Ciudad Real". It is the city's main cathedral and houses the second largest nave in the country.

Pico do Fogo, Cape Verde's youngest and most active volcano, towers beautifully but menacingly over the island of Fogo. The mesmerising black volcanic soil is reminiscent of similar fiery peaks in Hawaii and Iceland and is used to grow coffee. A small community, Chã das Caldeiras, is precariously located in the caldera very near the peak, and adventurers can hike up the imposing 2,829 metres for unparalleled views of the island.

La Goulette stretches along a narrow sandbar between Lake Tunis and the Mediterranean, connected to central Tunis by the TGM commuter rail. This unpretentious port town thrives on simple pleasures: the kilometre-long seaside promenade lined with cafés where locals play backgammon over mint tea, and family-run restaurants serving just-caught seafood. While short on conventional sights, its charm lies in the rhythm of dockworkers, fishermen, and evening strollers who animate the waterfront. The ferry terminal links Tunisia to Europe, lending the harbour constant movement. Come for grilled octopus at plastic-covered tables as tankers glide past, or join the evening passeggiata when the sea breeze tempers the day’s heat.

Mount Dajti looms majestically over Tirana, offering a beautiful escape into nature with its national park, dense forests and panoramic views. You can reach the top either by taking the Dajti Ekspres cable car — the longest in the Balkans — or enjoy a scenic drive. Once at the summit, you'll find several restaurants where you can savour a meal while enjoying the serene landscape. The sense of standing above the city, with expansive views stretching in every direction, gives you a feeling of being on top of the world. Dajti Mountain National Park also offers an adventure park for kids and adults, a rotating bar, minigolf, hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as many romantic spots for picnicking.
