A stroll along Lungomare Giacomo Matteotti, one of the main arteries of the city, is a uniquely Pescara experience. With the beach on one side and a line of restaurants and cafés on the other, you will eventually end up at the beautiful Fontana la Nave di Cascella. Designed by Pietro Cascella using white Carrara marble, the fountain represents an ancient rowing boat that brings back the seafaring tradition of the city. It is located on the seafront and is the symbol of Pescara.

This impressive building, known as the Villa Méditerranée, was designed in 2013. It boasts sleek modern architecture and an impressive cantilevered section that looms over an artificial pool. Inside, you can enjoy exhibitions that cover both marine life and local history. In June 2022, a new exhibit was presented to the visitors — a replica of the famous Cosquer Cave, in an atmosphere similar to that of the original, that has been submerged since the 90s. You get to explore the 1,750-square-metre replica aboard a comfortable exploratory vehicle and learn about the Homo sapiens that lived in the cave 30,000 years ago. See the engravings, paintings, speleothems, handprints and geological features that have been reproduced for public viewing in the most realistic and scientifically rigorous manner.

Dating back to 1072, the castle served as the primary residence of the Prince Bishops of Durham until 1832, when it transitioned into University College. Outside of term time, during student holidays, the building is open for guided tours.

The Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum showcases art from antiquity to modernity and everything in-between, with its medieval sculpture collection being particularly notable. It also houses significant works by artists like Rembrandt, Cranach, Antoon van Dyck, Otto Dix and Max Beckmann. The museum's eclectic collection includes a print room, glass paintings, Flemish tapestries, and goldsmith works, offering a comprehensive view of artistic evolution.
