Despite its small size, the Vieille Ville (literally "Old Town") is still worth a walk, especially during summer. The gates and arches, as well as the backdoors to small and secret streets, make for excellent photographs, and every corner can hide surprises.

This Georgian public square is an oasis of tranquillity right in the heart of the city. It is a perfect place for those who need to get away from the bustle of the city for an hour or two. The park is rather small, but there are benches all around and there is plenty of space on the grass, so many choose this spot for a lunch break.

Situated to the west of Östersund, the largest island in Lake Storsjön, Frösön holds a rich historical significance. Named after the Norse god Freyr, the island, which served as the regional centre of Jämtland throughout much of recorded history, boasts the northernmost raised runestone in the world, known as the "Frösö Runestone”. Easily accessible by foot, car, or bus, the island is a short walk across the pedestrian bridge from Östersund. The renowned Swedish composer Wilhelm Peterson-Berger's enchantment with the island led to the creation of "Sommarhagen", now a museum and one of Östersund's most visited attractions.

Chania, or "Venice of the East", is the second biggest city in Crete, built on the site of old Kydonia. One the most picturesque cities in Greece, Chania oozes with artistic influences of the various cultures which have passed through it. Historical buildings have been renovated and now house museums and cultural centres, for example, the former Venetian Monastery of Saint Francis now hosts the Archaeological Museum of Chania.
