To stay close to the centre of it all, Saint George would probably be the best pick when it comes to beaches on Naxos. Located in very close proximity to the island's Hora, it is, perhaps, what one would refer to as the "city beach". The water here is shallow, which is perfect for families with children.

The Parthenon and the temple of Athena, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the major attraction of Athens. The Erechtheion displays the statues of the female Caryatids, though the original statues have been replaced by copies because of air pollution; the originals are in the new Museum. On the southern slopes of the Acropolis lies the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, a Roman theatre with room for as many as 5,000 spectators. It is used during the annual Athens Festival for world-class ballet and music performances. The Theatre of Dionysus lies beside Herodes Atticus, and almost all the tragedies and comedies of Ancient Greece were written for this theatre.

Botanize among a unique collection of military aircraft, become a pilot for a while or experience Sweden during the cold war. There is a lot to discover at the Air Force Museum for both grown ups and children. You’ll find the most special plane in the basement. It’s the wreck of the DC-3 shot down in the 1950s and rediscovered at the bottom of the sea in 2003. In the Flight Lab, you can try being a pilot. You’ll have an exciting day with lots of fun for the whole family. The museum is open all year round and have free admission.
