Grotta Mangiapane is the biggest cave of the group Scurati's Caverns. Scurati is a little village with very ancient origins, as the numerous finds happened here can demonstrate. The cave takes its name from the family Mangiapane, who lived here for more than a century, indeed it hosts a very peculiar rural agglomeration composed of little squared houses. Totally different epochs merge together in this unique place. During Christmas period, Grotta Mangiapane hosts a big event called “Living Nativity”, an event where the agro-pastoral life comes alive with some 160 performers, including artists and craftsmen from all over Sicily.

Vodice was developed next to the water springs. On the square, under the parish church, there used to be two wells around which the whole rural life was developed. From the upper well (closer to the parish church) drinkable water was taken, and the lower well contained water of less quality which was used for washing laundry and other household needs.

The two scenic trails, that unroll down Mount Portofino and from the bay along the coastline, lead to the ancient San Fruttuoso Abbey, alternatively reachable only by boat. The elegant architecture blends perfectly with the surrounding regional park, a protected gem that houses Mediterranean flora and fauna.

Reaching elevations of over 3,000 metres, the lush Faifa Mountains loom over Jizan's sandy expanses, providing a beautiful backdrop. They are a hotbed for geological tourism, providing unparalleled hiking paths and nature watching. Explorers are sure to come across ancient fortresses and natural hot springs.
