The Rance Tidal Power Station was one of the first hydroelectric power stations in the world when it first opened in 1966. Today it is the world's second biggest tidal power station. There are boat tours up the river during high season, during which you can enjoy a lovely view of the bay.

Røvær is an idyllic group of islands situated 10 kilometres west of Haugesund that has a population of approximately 100 people. The islands are home to an abundant plant and bird life and are also a great place for fishing.

From the 13th to the 15th century, Bruges was the most important trading centre in North-West Europe. Spanish merchants settled along the Spaanse Loskaai (Spanish Quay) and in the Spanjaardstraat. The Germans or Easterners — ‘oosterlingen’ in Dutch — took up residence in the Oosterlingenplein. In this old Hansa Quarter you can admire the mansions of the wealthy international merchants and the great trading nations of the day. You can almost still smell the atmosphere of the Middle Ages.

Tucked away in a serene 31-acre maritime forest, the Hoop Pole Creek Nature Trail is a hidden gem for nature lovers on the North Carolina coast. Protected by the NC Coastal Federation, this sanctuary is home to a rich variety of wildlife, fish, and native plant ecosystems. The easy, half-mile trail is perfect for a peaceful stroll, winding through lush greenery and offering glimpses of the vibrant habitats unique to the area. Open to the public during daylight hours, the trail even provides free guides at the entrance, so you can spot and learn about the local flora and fauna as you go.
