This small local military museum is a great place to visit to get some knowledge of the military history of the island of Bornholm. Here you can explore military equipment from the past 500 years, uniforms, weapons, remains of a V1 flying bomb, which are all housed in unique historical buildings. On the courtyard you will even find a tank. There are guided tours of the exhibitions. When you are here why not visit the impressive tower called Kastelstårnet, located near the Museum of Defence, a bit south of the old part of Rønne.

Built in the mid-18th century for the Qing emperors as a retreat from the heat of the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace is a vast imperial garden centred on Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, both man-made. The lake was modelled on Hangzhou’s West Lake, with islands, bridges, and long covered walkways. Scattered around are pavilions, temples, and a recreated riverside street designed to look like a traditional market town. Later restored under Empress Dowager Cixi, it became her favoured residence. Today, it’s worth visiting not just for the palaces themselves, but for the long lakeside walks, shaded courtyards, and the sense of space that feels very different from central Beijing.

Bornholm is hills, waves, paving stones, smoked herrings and round churches so one of the best way to explore this beautiful nature is by bike. Marzipan's triumphal march began in Lübeck. The factory - still headquartered in Lübeck - was established by Georg Niederegger (1777 - 1856) and is still owned by the Niederegger family. Directly opposite the Town Hall in the heart of the Old Town is the famous Café Niederegger with the marzipan salon. The history of the "harem confectionery" can be found on the second floor and takes the visitor back through the centuries tracing the origins of the almond speciality on its long journey from the orient to Lübeck.
