Occupied in the Roman period, San Giorgio Maggiore is one of the several islands around Venice. At the beginning of the 19th century, after the Republic fell, the island became a free port housing Venice's artillery. This is another perfect opportunity to capture a gorgeous panoramic view of Venice, especially from the top of the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore's bell tower.

Nessebar, a city-museum and UNESCO World Heritage Site, is another marvellous day trip from Burgas, located just 35 kilometres away. Nessebar was once a Thracian settlement and later a Greek colony, playing a key role in the development of trade and culture in the Black Sea region. Åkulla's beautiful beech forests are located about 25 km east of Varberg. The area is famous for its outstanding viewing points, numerous lakes and hiking trails. If you're looking to spend a few nights in the forests, there are various lodgings that welcome tourists throughout the year, experiencing a particular peak in winter when the nearby ski resort comes to life.
