The National Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals from nearly 400 species — everything from elephants and lions to smaller exhibits you can explore at your own pace. Highlights include the Giant Panda Habitat and Amazonia, an indoor rainforest with monkeys, fish, and tropical plants. The grounds are expansive, so wear good shoes and plan a few hours if you want to see more than just the main enclosures.

Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery opened its doors in 1964 and displays important collections of natural history, archaeology, local history, fine and decorative art works. Here you can also enjoy a large and diverse temporary exhibition programme throughout the year.

Until the 16th century, Colmcille's monastery defined the island. In Toraigh, the most remote of all the inhabited Irish isles, tradition and high spirits abound. Other landmarks of note include the Lighthouse, the Wishing Stone, and Balor's Fort. An interesting fact is that this island traditionally elects its own king - the only place in Ireland to do so.
