About 35 km from Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion is a medieval town set in the heart of one of the world’s oldest wine regions — and the first to be listed as a living UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s small, walkable, and packed with history, from old stone streets and monolithic churches to underground catacombs carved into the limestone. Of course, the wine is a big draw. You can visit nearby châteaux for tastings or just grab a glass in the town square.

Home to a large Chinese population, it would be only appropriate for Lima to have its own version of a Chinatown. This is the place where visitors come to try the authentic Chifa, the Chinese-Peruvian fusion cuisine. However, keep in mind that this is not like your typical Chinatown: it is smaller, rather chaotic and somewhat rough around the edges. But if you feel like venturing into the hustle and bustle of this neighbourhood, you'll be rewarded with traditional dim sum, Peking duck and many other Asian delights.

The Långe Erik — 'Tall Erik' or oficially 'Ölands norra udde' — lighthouse, perched on the northern tip of Öland on Stora Grund, is a 32-metre-tall structure built from limestone. Climbing the 138 steps to the balcony, positioned at approximately 28 meters, affords visitors a commanding view of the surrounding seascape.

In the heart of Yangon, located on a busy street, lies the Sule Pagoda. Supposedly built 2000 years ago, legend has it that the golden tower holds a strand of Buddah's hair. Visitors have to take off their shoes and pay a small admission fee to enter.
