Girona provides a diverse shopping experience, spanning international designer labels, shopping centres and traditional local crafts. The city has a particular strength in delicatessens, with numerous shops offering artisanal cheeses, specialty chocolates, and high-quality farmers’ market produce. For unique souvenirs, the various shopping districts contain a wealth of antique dealers and craft workshops showcasing distinctive items.

Rambla de la Llibertat

Rambla de la Llibertat

The best place to start a shopping tour of Girona is on Rambla de la Llibertat and the streets in and around the old quarter, which offer plenty of shopping. Just wander around and you'll easily find small boutiques and original shops that sell unique design items and clothing, as well as crafts, delicatessen, and much more.

Santa Clara

Across the Onyar River, you can find high-street shops along the length of the lively Santa Clara street with shops selling everything from shoes and clothing to interior design, home-ware, accessories and souvenirs. Shopping addicts will find Girona’s new shopping paradise on the city outskirts alluring, to say the least. The Espai Gironès has more than 130 retailers, a multiplex cinema and a bowling centre.

Parc de la Devesa Market

Tuesdays and Saturdays are market days at the beautiful Parc de la Devesa, with stalls selling clothes, handicrafts and food products. It is a fascinating window into local food culture, displaying fresh produce, meats, jams and nuts, as well as miscellaneous items and knick-knacks.

If anything warrants a trip outside of the city, it is Pastisseria Can Xapa. Located in a 13th-century castle in the town of Bordils to the northeast of Girona, this speciality chocolaterie and bakery boasts some of the finest creations around, including dark chocolate pralines and original recipes like the gin-and-tonic cake.

Papers is a special gift shop that specialises in paper mache sculptures, hand-painted fans, notebooks and customisable photo albums of all sizes. Though everything at Papers is quirky and unique, the huge amount of Tintin paraphernalia takes first prize in originality and nostalgia.
