North Macedonia can be visited visa-free for up to 90 days by citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel, UAE and most countries in America. If you are unsure whether or not you need to apply for a visa, we recommend contacting the embassy or consulate in your country. International (non-Schengen) travelers need a passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the end of their intended trip in order to enter the Schengen zone. Citizens of Schengen countries can travel without a passport, but must have a valid ID with them during their stay.

Airport - Skopje Alexander the Great

Skopje Alexander the Great Airport is Skopje's only international airport and is located 21 km east of the city centre in Petrovec Municipality. Vardar Ekspres transport company offers bus connection to several locations in the city and buses run all day. They have an information desk at the airport. Many hotels offer a pickup service from the airport, so check to see if it is possible to arrange this through your hotel. If you do take a taxi, be certain that it is a taxi with an official sign. There are however, taxi cars (all in white and taxi sign numbered from 1 to 65) which are the only authorized taxis to transport passengers from the airport. They are parked at the exit of the airport building 24 hours a day. If you want to rent a car, there are 14 car rental agencies located at the airport.

Skopje’s bus network covers the entire city with a 24-hour service. The buses are all cashless. To pay the fare, you will need a Skopska bus card. Alternatively, you can get a local sim card and use it in your phone to make contactless payment. Simply touch your payment card of choice on the card reader as you board the bus, or dial 185 on your mobile phone. A single bus journey costs 35 denars no matter how far you go. You can take multiple buses within 90 minutes with a special time ticket which costs 60 denars. Night buses run all night and the fares are 40 denars with a bus card and 50 denars from a mobile phone. Daily tickets for all buses are 120 denars, and a 10-ride voucher is 250 denars. You have 15 days to use up your 10 rides from the moment you use your first ride. A 7 day ticket can be purchased for 500 denars, which includes a two-way ticket for the Millennium Cross cable cart.
