Florence Airport (FLR)
Florence’s international airport Peretola, formally Amerigo Vespucci Airport, is around 4 kilometres from the city centre, located on the northwest outskirts of Florence. The city centre can be reached in about 15 minutes by taxi, or approximately 20 minutes using public transport.
The most efficient way to reach the city centre is via the T2 tram line, which connects the airport to the Santa Maria Novella (SMN) railway station in about 20 minutes. The tram runs daily from early morning until late, with departures every 5 to 10 minutes. Tickets cost a couple of euros and must be purchased from the automated machines at the platform and validated before boarding. While the "Vola in bus" shuttle still operates, the tram is now the preferred option for its lower cost and higher frequency.
To take a taxi from the airport to central Florence takes about 15 minutes, and you will find a taxi stand in front of the terminal. When taking a taxi, be aware that there is a fixed flat rate (plus supplements for luggage or night shifts) for trips to the historic centre; you can check the price display inside the vehicle to ensure you pay the correct amount.
