Shenzhen - Bars & Nightlife
There’s a fairly big wave of Hong Kong revellers making there way to Shenzhen at the weekends these days pulled in by the wilder, local nightlife scene. Clubs cover all music bases and genres with party goers particularly drawn to Sea World Square in Shekou district with its mix of ex-pat style bars and clubs. Another draw is Bar St at Citic City Plaza (CCP), particularly popular with Shenzhen’s youth.
McCawley’s Irish Bar
Your staple diet of Guinness, western style food and ex-pats is enlivened by one of the best roof garden bars in the city. Perfect for the summer when temperatures can hover around +25C late into the night.
Baby Face
The Baby Face brand in China shows little sign of let up and the Shenzhen club displays all the hallmarks of its cousins in Beijing and Shanghai. Place to be seen among the city’s cool and elite with time on their hands when they come out to play. It’s worth a visit just to see how the Chinese go clubbing.
Biggist bar at the CCP opposite Starbucks. Great place to sit outside, have a beer and watch the crowds walk by.
Base Bar
Blues and Punk bar with live bands banging out tunes into the early hours of the morning.
Four locations featuring live bands and jazz music. Two floors offer contrasting experiences at the Dongyuan venue. One is relatively laid back. The other is jumping.
The Terrace
Serving American and properly spicy Thai food, the bar is a relatively new addition to Shekou’s thronging mass of clubs. Has a large balcony overlooking Sea World Square from which you can observe the masses.
B111
German brewing house so expect your beers to be tasty and strong. Also expect your food to come in mega meaty proportions with classic German staples crispy pork knuckle and sourkraut on the menu.
