颐和园曾是皇室家族从京城生活压力中抽身出来去往的养生之所。 园内建筑和花园林立，如仁寿殿、乐寿堂以及佛香阁等，在佛香阁上看昆明湖视野极佳。

朝阳剧场建于 1984 年，在此可以观看杂技表演。表演节目是一些使用自行车、椅子的杂技项目以及其他一些中国魔术技法。 有些艺术表演者甚至在国际比赛上拿过奖。 演出时间为一小时，并受到游客们的普遍赞赏。
