Two cities, two branches: The Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg have jointly performed at Düsseldorf’s Opernhaus (1,292 seats) and Theater Duisburg (1,079 seats) since 1956. With one of the largest opera ensembles in the world and one of the major ballet companies in the German-speaking region, it is one of the prime addresses for musical theatre and dance in Europe. The programme includes: Grand Opera from baroque rarities all the way to contemporary musical theatre and a ballet that sets new standards with uncompromising aesthetics.

There is no better way to start your visit to Lima than where it all began. The Plaza de Armas or Plaza Mayor is the birthplace of Peru's capital and still the city's main hub. The list includes former American President Nixon, Ernest Hemingway and Mick Jagger, among others.

Aix-en-Provence, or simply Aix, is a beautiful university city located in the heart of Provence, known for its picturesque Old Town, stunning architecture, and vibrant cultural scene. Founded by the Romans in 123 BC, Aix is steeped in history and boasts an impressive array of architectural styles, from medieval to modern. It is often referred to as the "City of a Thousand Fountains" due to its numerous fountains, which are a popular attraction for visitors. Travellers can also explore the narrow streets of the Old Town, see the famous Cours Mirabeau boulevard, or take in the stunning views from the top of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, which overlooks the city. This extravagantly decorated clandestine church built centuries ago when Catholicism was considered a crime is hidden in plain sight behind an unassuming front door in the city centre. Those walking down Juffrouw Idastraat would never imagine that within one of the typical terraced houses lies the enormous Parish of Saints James and Augustine where Catholics used to practice their faith in secret. Nobody is quite sure who built the church, but the stunning baroque plastering seems to suggest that it was the famous architect and artist Daniel Marot or one of his students.
