2009 saw Gamcheon turn from an area of budget housing for refugees of the Korean War into a premier tourist attraction, all thanks to a collective effort by local students and artists, who transformed the neighbourhood with colourful wall painting and street art. Today Gamcheon even has a tourist office of its own: stop by on your way in to pick up a detailed map of the village's attractions; collect a stamp at each and you'll receive a small prize from the tourist office on submission. There is a small museum telling the neighbourhood's story, and a number of shops, cafes and street food stalls. When wandering the maze of Gamcheon's streets, please respect the privacy of family homes.

The many winding steps of Charlotte Amalie were built in the mid 1700s. The bricks for the steps were brought all the way from Denmark as ballast in the empty hulls of the sailing ships. The picturesque 99 steps attract the most foot traffic and cameras. How could one resist this narrow stairway, adorned with flowers on both sides! The original name if the street can be translated as the Greater Tower Street. The steps lead to the Blackbeard’s Castle — a 17th century watch tower. The tower has been closed to visitors since Hurricanes Irma and Maria, but the view from up above is still stunning.

Miniatur Wunderland is the world's largest model railway museum and Germany's most popular tourist attraction. Its display sections feature authentic environments from various countries, ranging from Sweden and Norway to the pyramids of Egypt and Las Vegas in the U.S. The exhibit alternates between 'day' and 'night' every 15 minutes. Visitors can also take a guided tour to see behind the scenes at Wunderland, gaining a deeper appreciation for the technical wizardry and planning involved in running this extraordinary place.

La Manga and surroundings are known as somewhat of a golfing destination, much due to the presence of multiple golf courses in the area. One well-visited location is the 9-hole course in the Strip's north, Veneziola Golf.
