The Central New York Playhouse does more than just plays. Their calendar is also filled with musical performances, cabarets, murder mysteries and improv comedy shows.

Spanning the 375-acre Empire Expo Center, the Great New York State Fair attracts approximately one million visitors annually, and is the third largest state fair in the United States. The 12-day festival begins at the end of August and ends on Labor Day each year. In addition to rides, games and food, the fair also boasts a circus, petting zoo, strolling performers and daily parades. Visitors can also peruse numerous health, agricultural and arts and crafts exhibits. Entertainment is in no short supply with nightly concerts and several agricultural, culinary and art competitions, including the butter and cheese sculpture competition.

Humans have inhabited the ridge over the confluence of the Sava and Danube for over two millennia. The core of today’s capital city is the Belgrade Fortress and the Kalemegdan Park. They form a unique spatial entity with clearly visible remains of the Fortress divided into Upper and Lower Town, with two distinct styles. Elements of mediaeval architecture combine with dominant baroque solutions, typical for the 18th century. The Kalemegdan Park, split in two as the Great and Little Parks, developed in the area that once was the town field. The fortress and the park together represent a cultural monument of exceptional importance, the area where various sport, cultural and arts events take place.

In 1887, Henning Hammarlund founded 'Halda Fickursfabrik', a pocket watch factory in the town of Svängsta, just outside of Karlshamn. The Swedish-made watches were sought after worldwide and were manufactured in the same building until the 1940s.
