During the summer there are a number of activities available for families with children; ride with a horse and carriage or the choo-choo train, meet street musicians, vagabonds, the local police constable and other characters from bygone days, try oldfashioned crafts, visit the old school e t c. A short walk through the Valla forest nature reserve takes you to Valla farm, with museums showing agricultural and technical history, farm animals, a large playground, cafés and a miniature golf course.

Île aux Aigrettes is an island in the Southeast of Mauritius, and although it is quite small, it is home to a multitude of rare and diverse plants and animal species. Being a nature reserve since 1965, this islet attracts tourists and locals alike, both of whom come to see the famous pink pigeons, giant tortoises and the last surviving piece of Mauritian dry coastal forest.

Tulum, whose original name is Zamá meaning ‘sunrise’ in the Mayan language is the best-known and the most representative site of the region. This majestic archaeological zone offers breathtaking views that inspire visitors to immerse themselves in the mysticism that surrounds them. Home to over 60 perfectly preserved structures, Tulum's crowning jewel is 'El Castillo' or 'The Castle', the highest construction in the area, whose splendour is beautifully framed by the turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. With numerous murals and paintings found in the buildings, it is believed that Tulum was a significant ceremonial site dedicated to the Descending God.

“The Garrison” is another part of Bridgetown’s UNESCO World Heritage and a small district south of downtown. During the 18th and 19th century, it was the headquarters of the British West India Regiment in Barbados – evidenced in the remaining fortifications, cannons, and the iconic clock tower. The Garrison Savannah racetrack is a big part of the site, and you can watch horse races of the Barbados Turf Club here to this day.
