Pulau Ubin is an island northeast of mainland Singapore. Cycle trails and hiking trails criss-cross the hills, taking you past the disused granite quarries into traditional villages known as "kampongs". The idyllic Farasan Island, located about 50 kilometres off the coast of Jazan, is without a doubt the area's biggest draw for travellers. The Farasan Island Marine Sanctuary was created to protect the island's biodiversity, but visitors can still admire the coral reefs, dive and snorkel in the area. Ferries regularly make the trip to the island from Jazan.

Go for a stroll along Quay Street with its heritage-listed sandstone Victorian-era buildings alongside Fitzroy River. You can pick up leaflets that map out walking trails around Rockhampton from the visitor centres.
