Crowning Girona’s skyline, the Cathedral of Santa Maria commands attention from the top of a majestic 86-step staircase. Its soaring Baroque façade, added in the 17th century, belies a far older history: foundations date to the 5th century, with a Romanesque church and 12th-century cloister still preserved within. The cathedral’s most notable feature is the 23-metre-wide Gothic nave (widest in the world!) completed in the 14th century and illuminated by vast stained-glass windows. Inside, the Museum of the Cathedral safeguards extraordinary treasures, including the 11th-century Tapestry of Creation, a vivid Romanesque depiction of divine order, and a gem-studded 14th-century silver altarpiece. Nothing extremely thrilling can be said about this statue, which is located in front of the northern gate of the Diocletian Palace. It rises up celebrating bishop Grgur, Gregory of Nin, who firmly opposed the Pope and introduced the Croatian language into Catholic services. You may want to stop by though: its well-polished big toe is said to bring good luck for those who rub it.

The Sabarmati Riverfront is a unique and ambitious urban development project designed to revitalise the banks of the Sabarmati River. It features a 10-kilometre-long walkway, providing access to a range of recreational areas, parks, and public spaces. While the number of sports facilities is relatively modest, the riverfront is set to expand with new attractions and amenities in the coming years, enhancing its appeal as a vibrant public destination.

St. Mary's Church of Our Lady of Mercy is located on the small island of Prvić and is dedicated to the Merciful Mother. It is known when the works of the monastery started (1461), but it's still unclear when they finished. The monastery was reconstructed many times and completely renovated after the big fire in 1884. If you're planning to pay a visit to the church, know that the island can be reached by ferry from Vodice or from Šibenik.
