For centuries, there was a significant Armenian community in Bangladesh, though their presence is minimal today. Founded in 1781, the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection in Dhaka's Armanitola neighbourhood — named after the Armenian settlers — is a remnant of that era. This beautiful church is worth a visit, serving as a marker of the city's past and ongoing diversity.

For those interested in Texas history while in Montgomery, be sure to visit the N.H.Davis Pioneer Complex & Museum which displays artifacts and memorabilia from the era when Texas was an independent republic. The museum is housed in a historical structure originally owned by a lawyer, who built it in 1851 using logs received as payment for legal services. Visitors can explore period furnishings, a replica of the original Lone Star Flag sketch, and the Republic of Texas seal, both adopted in 1839. The complex also features informative plaques that detail the lives of Native settlements in the area.

Hammarby is a rural 18th-century estate bought by Carl Linnaeus in 1758. In the well-preserved manor house, you’ll find Linnaeus’ study with unique plant illustrations. Many of the plants that Linnaeus grew still flourish in the lush park. From the hill above the farm, you can enjoy the scenery and dream yourself back to the landscape of the 18th century. The manor with a café and exhibitions is open from May through September, and the surrounding cultural reserve all year round.

Scandinavia’s largest cathedral was built in the Gothic style in the 1270s before being consecrated in 1435. The cathedral is home to the tombs of several Kings and famous scientists including Gustav Vasa and Carl Linnaeus. The treasury houses Gustav Vasa’s sword, the relics of Eric IX of Sweden, as well as the golden chalice of Christina, Queen of Sweden. It is also possible to listen to concerts, look at exhibits, have coffee and cake in the cosy Katedralcafé, or browse the gift shop.
