In the middle of Bangkok’s busy streets, Lumphini Park is where locals come to breathe and move. Covering over 140 acres, it has lakes, shady paths, and open lawns, perfect for walking, paddling, or just watching the city go by. Early mornings and evenings are busiest, with people practising tai chi, jogging, or joining group aerobics, while monitor lizards and birds add a touch of wildlife. It’s a good spot to see a slower, local side of Bangkok.

Bonairean landscapes are brimming with vibrant flamingos, the island being one of the world's only four breeding grounds for the pink-hued birds — who get their iconic colour from the brine shrimp in the water. Bonaire's go-to place for birdwatching is Pekelmeer Lake, which is located near the salt pans. It's worth hiring a car to explore the area, but don't forget to bring your binoculars as you can only observe the flamingos from a distance. Byfield National Park is a forested recreation area stretched along the coastline with a view out to the Keppel Islands group. Enormous sand dunes and a picturesque coastal scenery dominate the southern part of the park, while in the north you can hike through rainforest and take a bath in Stony Creek, one of the best local fresh-water swimming holes in the area. The park is perfectly suited for a host of outdoor activities like camping, picnicking, walking, four-wheel driving, boating and fishing, cycling, and even horse riding.
