The Green Lake is known as the Jade of the city. Two long dikes divide the lake into four parts. Brightly painted pavilions, tree-lined walks and exercising locals all add to the appeal of the park. During the winter months, black-headed gulls from Siberia migrate to Green Lake and entertain the crowds of visitors as they circle around and snap up bread fed to them by birdwatchers and visitors. There used to be a military school in the neighbourhood, where the famous Chinese generals Zhu De and Ye Jianying were educated in the 1910s.

The Sphinx Avenue, also known as The King's Festivities Road, hails from around 380 BC, revealing a historic 2.7 km-long pathway that links Karnak Temple with Luxor Temple in the ancient city of Thebes. Uncovered remnants showcase sphinxes and ram-headed statues adorning both flanks of this ancient avenue, providing a fascinating glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Egyptian architecture and culture.

Piedmont is one of the richest regions in Italy when it comes to wine. In particular, a large part of the production is concentrated in the Langhe area, reachable in one hour by bus, train or car from Turin. Once used for shipping in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the piers are now used for their views. The Avila Beach Pier is the first of the three piers and was first constructed in 1908 by the county of San Luis Obispo. Over two thousand local residents gathered there on April 30th, 1908 when President Teddy Roosevelt's 'Great White Fleet' anchored offshore. The Harford Pier was developed in 1873 and is now used for fishing, restaurants and commercial fishing. The last pier, the California Polytechnic State University Pier, is an educational and marine research facility.
