Tivoli park was once the grounds of a castle barely two kilometres from the historic centre of Mechelen. These days you can enjoy a quiet stroll here across the large expanses of grass, past ancient trees, a highly-scented rose garden, a herb garden and other delightful nooks. Now pure white again, in 1990 the famous Belgian artist Jan Fabre wrapped the castle in sheets of paper covered with ballpoint lines for which 150,000 blue pens were required! Since 1991 the mansion has housed a catering establishment specializing in parties, seminars and the like. Drinks, snacks and lunches are served to the general public in the adjoining orangery. Small children will love meeting a whole variety of farm animals on the children's farm. Other attractions include the large bee colony and the educational nature trail where signs draw your attention to aspects of the park's history, fauna and flora.

With its stunning natural beauty, the island's north coast should be on every Dominican itinerary. The landscape here is woven with a tapestry of lush rainforest, towering cliffs and otherworldly red rocks, embraced not only by heavenly beaches — such as Batibou — but also freshwater pools fed by rivers. Snorkelling gear and hiking boots are a must. BNe sure to also linger in the village of Calibishie, for a trip to the Pointe Baptiste Chocolate Factory or a savoury meal on a terrace overlooking the sea.

Victory Square, or Piazza della Vittoria, holds a significant place in Genoa as not only one of its largest squares, but also as one of the most important ones. Dominating the square is the impressive Arch of Victory, which is also referred to as the War Memorial of the Fallen. This arch is a tribute to the Genoese soldiers who lost their lives during the First World War. Additionally, the square boasts lawns that are adorned with engravings of the symbols of Columbus's ships.

From Nikkaluokta, 66 km west of Kiruna, there are first-rate skiing and trekking trails to, among other places, the top of Sweden’s highest mountain — Kebnekaise (2,096 m). Walk the first 19 km to Kebnekaise mountain station, where you register for the next day’s guide-led route to the top. The trip takes about 8–10 hours and requires a good level of fitness. Minimum age is 16.
