Built in the early 14th century in Norman Gothic style, Palazzo Chiaramonte Steri, one of the symbols of Palermo, bears witness to a multifaceted history as both a tribunal and prison under the Inquisition from 1600 to 1782. Today, it serves as the headquarters of the University of Palermo, offering visitors a glimpse into history through its marvellous lecture halls adorned with intricate 14th-century wooden ceilings. The Inquisition Museum within its walls unveils the poignant narratives of prisoners through haunting graffiti and artworks, etching their stories onto the very cells that once confined them.

Just a stone's throw from Aphrodite's fabled birthplace, you'll find the Municipality of Geroskipou. No longer just a sleepy hamlet, this Pafos suburb has rich silk-making roots and even claims to have housed Aphrodite's sacred garden. A highlight here is the 11th-century Byzantine Church of Agia Paraskevi, located right in the main square. A short walk from the church takes you to the Zimboulaki house, now a charming Folk Art museum. For those keen on sweets, don't miss the Aphrodite Delights shop just across from the main square. These fabulous mountains of West MacDonnell Ranges stretch for 644 kilometres east and west of Alice, with numerous water holes, beautiful gorges, historic sites and Aboriginal rock art as well as plenty of walking trails, wildlife and good bush camping. Some places are within a reach of 10-20 kilometres from town, so head here and enjoy its rich atmosphere. There are countless walking tracks ranging, mapped out for leisurely hikes to daring multi-day adventures. The 223-kilometre Larapinta Trail stretches through the park and offers extended and overnight bushwalks.
