This traditional wooden Malay house, originally built in a Kedah village in the early 20th century, stands as a striking piece of heritage among Kuala Lumpur’s modern skyscrapers. Carefully preserved and relocated to the city, it offers you an insight into traditional Malay architecture and lifestyle. The guided tour includes a 20-minute film explaining the relocation process, followed by an informative walk through the house led by knowledgeable and welcoming guides. On site, you’ll also find a small café and gift shop.

Established by the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), the lavish Iskcon Temple is situated eight kilometres north of the city centre. Among the five main shrines, there is an unmissable one devoted to Krishna and Radha with a plethora of elegant architecture and a meditative atmosphere.

This is Porto Santo’s most popular walk, though it rarely feels crowded, especially if you go first thing in the morning. The well-marked PR1 trail is around 5 km return and threads through the island’s northeastern hills, crossing a protected Natura 2000 area where you can spot native plants, wildflowers, and seabirds. The route is moderately challenging, with some steady climbs, but nothing too demanding for anyone used to hill walking. The reward comes at the viewpoints. Terra Chã looks out over rugged cliffs and deep blue water, while Pico Branco, the island’s second-highest point, offers wide 360-degree views across Porto Santo and the Atlantic beyond. The whole hike typically takes under three hours at an easy, unhurried pace, and at the top, you'll find a few picnic areas if you want to recharge before heading back.

Built by a Chinese millionaire in 1928, the palace changed residents multiple times since. Today, the palace is the official residence of the monarch of Malaysia. Unfortunately, inside access is not permitted to tourists, but a glance into the compound at the ornate golden domes is worth the short drive from KL's city centre.
