Behind the Basilica di San Lorenzo, the Medici Chapels are a major stop for anyone interested in Florence’s history. Built to honour the Medici family—patrons, rulers, and power players—the chapels hold some of the most impressive tombs in the city. The Sagrestia Nuova (New Sacristy), designed by Michelangelo in the 16th century, is the standout, mixing sculpture, architecture, and a fair bit of Medici pride.

Monserrate is a dramatically high mountain over 3,152 metres (10,000 feet) high that dominates the city centre of Bogotá. You can reach the top on foot, but be warned that it won't be the easiest trek of your life because of the altitude. Alternatively, take the cable-car or the funicular. They will safely deliver you to the church with a shrine devoted to El Señor Caído with astonishing views over the city. If you are superstitious, be warned: Colombians believe that couples who visit Monserrate together will never get married.

Centuri is a peaceful little fishing town located at the northern tip of Corsica, famous for its pleasant marina and port, which boast many lovely restaurants and cafés that become quite animated at lunchtime. Not far from Centuri are a number of small beaches that are well worth exploring, as well.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park is a tribute to the civil rights campaigner who was born and later buried, in Atlanta. Visit the house where Dr. King grew up, the church where he preached as well as his final resting place, and the Eternal Flame at the King Center.
