Jemaa el-Fna, the vibrant epicentre of Marrakesh's medina, is a riot of colours, sounds and scents, especially at sunset. Though the square has transitioned from its roots as a daily food market for mountain traders, its hustle and energy remain palpable. During the day, vendors offer refreshing fruit juices, but it's at dusk when the place truly transforms. Street theatre, or 'halqa,' has been a mainstay here since the 11th century, and the tradition continues in modern times. As the sun dips below the horizon, food stalls magically unfold, adding tantalising aromas to the air. Musicians tune their instruments, snake charmers enchant both serpents and tourists, and the spectacle crescendos into a nightly celebration of Marrakeshi life and culture.

The Cube Houses (Piet Blom, 1984) are part of the Blaakse Bos (Blaakse Wood) development which borders on the Laurenskwartier district and the Waterfront area. The architect wanted to design a kind of village within the city and saw the houses as trees and the whole area as a wood. The Cube Houses are tipped to one side as it were, making three sides face the ground and three face the sky. San Giuliano Martire is a Renaissance-style Roman Catholic church that also serves as a museum. Construction of this remarkable structure took place from 1553 to 1575, and it stands adjacent to an abbey that once belonged to the Benedictine order. Within the museum section of the church, you can explore an impressive collection of artworks, including renowned paintings by Paolo Veronese that depict the martyrdom of St. Julian and Bittino da Faenza, illustrating the life of the saint.

Pirates took Coloane as their island after the Portuguese had arrived. Nowadays; however, it's famous for being a nice spot for a break from the city bustle.
